Corfacio is a directory of English schools and resources for working life. This notice covers the website and the accounts, listings, claims and messages on it. Write to us from the contact page if you want to reach the person responsible for the site.
What we keep
- An account stores your name and email address. A password is stored only as a hash and cannot be read back. If you sign in with Google, Google confirms your name and email and we store a Google account id so the same person can sign in again. We never receive the Google password.
- A school listing stores the details the school publishes: name, description, photo, address, phone, website, subjects and prices they choose to show. The contact email on a listing is kept for the school and is not shown on the page.
- A claim stores the account, the school, an email address, a role and the evidence sent with the request. A copy is emailed to the site address. Administrators read that evidence while they review the claim.
- The contact form stores your name, email address and message, and sends a copy to [email protected].
- Asking for the Speak with confidence guide stores the email address you leave. That list is visible to an administrator and is not published.
- A comment stores the name, email address and comment you submit. A new comment stays hidden until someone moderates it. If you tick the box to save your details, the browser keeps a cookie for the next comment.
- A school account can see counts for the last 30 days: visits, phone copies and website clicks, grouped by city and country. The IP address is not stored. When the network does not already name a city and country, the visit may be looked up once so the place can be counted. That lookup is not kept as an address.
Why we keep it
We use this information to run the directory, publish the listing a school asked for, reply to a message, send a guide someone requested, moderate comments, and show a school how its page is used. We use an account email to sign the person in and to write back. We do not sell personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles from it.
The legal reasons are the ones that fit each task: providing the account or listing you asked for, our interest in running a useful directory and answering people, and your choice when you leave an email for a guide or save comment details.
Cookies
Signing in sets a login cookie so the browser stays signed in. Choosing Google sets a short-lived cookie so the return from Google can be matched to this browser, then that cookie is removed. Opening the guide after you leave an email sets a cookie for 30 days so the download stays available in that browser. A comment form can set a cookie if you ask it to remember your name and email. These cookies are there to run the page you asked for.
Maps and hosting
A map on a school page or on the school map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap. Opening the map sends the request to their servers, under their own privacy notice. The site is hosted for us, so the host processes the visit in order to serve the page.
How long we keep it
- An account and its listing stay while the account is open. Closing the account removes the login. A published listing can remain on the directory until it is taken down.
- Contact messages and resource emails stay so we can reply and keep a record of the request. Ask us if you want yours removed.
- A claim stays with the decision, so there is a record of who was approved.
- Comments stay on the page unless we remove them.
- Visit counts stay as daily totals by city and country. They are not tied to a named person.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can object to a use based on our own interest in running the directory, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.
The directory is for adults. If we learn we are holding information about a child, we delete it.
